All civilizations in the past have risen and then fallen again, suggesting that ours might do so too. The attempt to prevent that grabby expansion of long run change would be typically in terms of some system you create. And now you face a big problem for the long run. You don't like change, big change. You've created the system to prevent big change, but the system rots. So the big question is how slowly or fast does it rot? And can you make it last indefinitely? Or is there some time limit after which it just couldn't manage to sustain this prevention of the change? That's a fundamental question about social rot that I hope to start thinking more about soon
