The CDC Has No Authority to Evict Tenants Who Are Behind on Their Rents
The federal government has imposed a moratorium on evictions, which prohibits landlords from throwing out tenants who are behind on their rents. The Supreme Court of the United States said that the CDC has exceeded its statutory authority and was obliged to stop issuing these moratoriums. And what has happened? Mr. Suquam and landlords like him are struggling to pay their bills and taxes because while the CDC has said that their tenants don't have to pay rent, it has not extended any such consideration to the landlords whose expenses continue to pile up.
