There are a couple categories as you're reading help me read faster, pay attention to the right things, jump around more easily and know what to pay attention to. There is helping you to learn and remember and capture knowledge and there are other features and flows that contribute to that such as read wise doing the sort of quasi spaced repetition with your highlights. Other people who are working on related technologies like Andy Matuschik with spaced repetition work that's really focused on helping you learning and remember and build knowledge. They're appropriate for different goals but they're all part of the broader umbrella of improving reading technology.
