The IRS Is Making It a Deal
The market has provided ways around that problem in other similar situations. For example, banks offer Christmas Club accounts. The banks will take out a little something every month and come April 15th, they'll hand it back to you and say, go pay your taxes. I would far rather just see people not have the money to pay it. And what we've ended up with now is a ballooning economic catastrophe.
