The Truth About Dan Mallory's Life
The New Yorker article that went viral was a whole year in the making. Dan Mallory claimed to have an inoperable brain tumor, gourphobia and academic accolades which could not be verified. A therapist confirmed he had been diagnosed with bipolar disorder II but it's not clear whether this would lead to compulsive lying. The woman in the window appears to be his own work; plot is suspiciously similar to a 1995 movie starring Sigourney Weaver called Copycat.
