Since 1914 at the latest, it was probably more like 1870, power in war has been correlated fairly well with power and economics. And so as long as the nations of the world are caught in a defense multipolar trap, they can't back away from exponential economics. So we have to find deep peace. Not fighting wars is the stupidest and worst thing that humans do, bar none. But that alone is not enough. We never had another war so long as everybody is worried that the other guy is about to start a war.
