The original screenplay was by Barry Morrow who co-wrote Rain Man they didn't use any of that. Harold Ramis almost directed it. Danny DeVito and Dustin Hoffman were almost in this movie as Mario. Do you think DeVito would have been in good Mario? Yep. He would have been great.
