People are spending so much money on food, energy and now shelter, they don't have enough money left over for that other stuff. They're just spending it on stuff that used to be a lot less expensive,. But now because inflation made that other stuff so expensive, you've got to cut back in other areas. Now, of course, eventually the areas where consumers are cutting back, those prices are going to go up too.
