Stephanie Coontz: Madness is a term that really situates folks within a specific historical political lineage of resistance. So for me, a lot of the healing work that I do comes from my experiences in within altered states. She says her mom has been involuntarily committed and she doesn't think involuntary commitment is the best way to go about things.coontz: It's just so difficult because we don't blame people for like calling the police because there are no other solutions.
