Universal Credit and Inflation
Universal credit, the big new bit of the benefit system, is performing. It adds to people's incomes as their circumstances change. The bank had no other option, sadly, but to raise interest rates - I hope they'll bring them down fairly soon if this doesn't go through. Whether that continues or it comes back down at the next session will be the debate.
