The History of Free Peasants
By far most peasants were unfree. Unfree peasants usually forced to work for their lord. They provided labor with little or no payment. Some did earn money through side work, but that money usually went to the lord in rents and fees. Free peasants also had more freedom to sell and transfer their lands to someone else.
