The ancient religious center, or centro rellí chioso, is one of the most important artifacts of the Nucheditlan in modern-day Mexico City. The site of the temple was discovered by accident in 1978 by construction workers. Since then, archaeologists have been working to excavate the templo mayo and at times demolished other buildings to reach its many layers of stones.
