The Declaration of Independence

The definition of independence was published on July 4th 1776. It's the first document that articulates who we are what we are. Lincoln looks to it when at the beginning of the Gettysburg Address for scoring seven years ago. The Declaration of Independence really is an articulation of the justification for the colonies declaring independence from Great Britain becoming independent states.
