By the end of the spanish golden age, a pretty clear hierarchy had developed. Beneath them were creoo, whites born in the americas. Below them were mistizo, mixed race children of whites and amor indians. Then there were african slaves coming into it. And then further on through the quadroons and octoroons, collectively mixed race, black and whites are called pardos.
