Infants and Toddlers Expect to Respond to the Woman's Distress

In one study, researchers showed infants and toddlers these novel interactions that they probably didn't have a lot of experience with. Infants and toddlers expect to respond to the woman's distress if she touches her own forehead. If it's food or if it's saliva, that's perceived by the infants and toddlers as a closer relationship. It's interesting that despite sort of the disgust reaction of thinking about doing this in the wrong relationship, that they still are able to infer that people have a relationship when they do this action.
