When I stopped punching clocks and started to work on my own, that's when I started to kind of grow and thrive as a human. Autonomy can look like being able to choose what we eat, what we wear every day. At the organizational level, this means giving folks the opportunity to be involved in decision making or communication about our work. Then the number one thing that chips away at trust and respect in relationship to autonomy is blind siding someone.
