The story is told entirely from the women's point of view and it's made plain that they were all killed by Jacknary. She stops short at the time when they're murdered but she takes their lives right up to the point when they were murdered. The thing that you learn as I said is the dire conditions under which these people lived in those days if you lost your money or you couldn't earn enough money to support yourself there was absolutely no help from the state. A couple of them screamed I think but most of nobody knew what was happening until the bodies were found some time later. Nobody came upon them when this happened horrible just sort of hole in the wall kind of operation.
