The Psychology of Slowing Down AI

In practice, for many of the technology slowed down, countries with pretty disparate cultures have converged on similar approaches to caution. My experience in talking about slowing down AI with people is that they seem to have a can't do attitude. They want to write it off. What would it look like if we actually tried? I did feel like Kachio was attacking me directly because I detected at that part of the essay that I was coming up with excuses for why this wouldn't work the whole time.
