Asbeorn and the Danes were abandoning the English. And any hopes that this was a reinforcement from King Swain would have quickly evaporated as the Danes began to pack up. But then one of those things happened that makes you wonder if Mother Nature occasionally takes a side. This gale was so powerful that ships were blown off course as far as Ireland and Norway. Only a portion of the fleet managed to drag themselves back to Denmark. As such, only a small bit of the plunder made it back to King Swain's estates. At around this point, the remaining religious hostages were released. When they were released, they took the remaining relics with them.
