The Evolution of Greek Phrases
John Hart's phonetic spellings indicate that those new pronunciations had not yet emerged in the late 1500s. In some cases, a Latin word received the same new spelling because it was mistaken for a Greek word. That's how the Latin words Otter and Aturiti became author and authority. There were also several situations where the T sound completely disappeared in a word.
