The Importance of a Collector

The collector has some lovely abstractions in it of a pipeline with the inputs and then transformations. Fortunately, you can do a lot without a collector just for trying it out. It's funny that you mentioned getting your head around the kind of names, so the verbs that are used in the collector. The one that gets me is resource. From metrics historically has meanings, but coming at these concepts from tracing resource doesn't mean like host until I have to figure out that that's usually what it means.
