Using GPR to Find Ancient Sites
GPR can be used to build maps of large areas without any excavation, including knocking over a house that might be on the buried site. GPR devices are relatively cheap but likely to get much cheaper with time and skilled up production and use. Given the various other data you can live with the right software, I really would not be surprised if it became routine to do GPR scan of all construction sites or maybe even farm fields.
