The Impossibility Thesis
The impossibility thesis is basically the idea that business ethics isn't possible to do because capitalism is, as we were talking about earlier, this kind of totalizing socioeconomic system. So therefore, anybody who does capitalistic things in it is going to be unethical for that reason, right? Okay. Shaw's response to that, I think he's mostly kind of right on this charge at least,. But just because a social system is unjust and is like inherently unjust, it's not capable of being just. In fact, Rawls even said it's not even trying to be just. It's not even like a justice, a theory of justice at all.
