Nestle's Failure to Act on Romero's Death
In 2005, a Nestle employee in Colombia was murdered by being stabbed dozens of times. The paramilitary killers were convicted two years later and the judge even ordered an investigation into the management at the Nestle subsidiary where he worked. Some sources claim that Romero did tell Nestle managers directly the threats he was receiving and they neglected to act. Claimants have tried to bring action against them, and the European Center for Constitutional and Human Rights submitted a complaint in 2014. Unfortunately, it was dismissed because of the statute of limitations.
