Is C an Obsolete Language?

I don't think C is an obsolete language because it's just an expression of assembler. I wouldn't say it's obsolete so much as it becomes increasingly narrow over time, right? As performance goes up so dramatically every year, there are still absolutely scenarios where you've got to be right in C.
