Chang got a reputation for interfering in the arts. She criticized many popular films, some because they criticized people the Communist Party deemed patriots. Achieving good things through economic gain was not in line without Communist values. Chang started her revenge with people like Mal and Fang, one of the greatest Beijing opera actors of his time.
