The Amish do it the exact same way that the apostles did when they in the time of Jesus, they cast lots. The congregation nominate a bunch of candidates and they bring in a table load of Bibles. They create a pyramid of Bibles and they play a game of short straw with the Bibles. And inside the Bible, there is a slip of paper that says, you are now the special leader guy.
