When you contact an emotional sensation in the body over and over and over again, it begins to lose some of that urgency. It also, you decontextualize it from its cognitive content. So there's all the things you're thinking about the emotion, but then there's just the raw feeling or feelings in your body. What's so interesting and just blew my mind was that they are extremely easy to bear.
