How Did You Become a Writer?

How did you get from answering the showbiz phones to the Guardian? Well I was actually sat from the sun. The great Matthew Norman who used to write the diary hired me to help him on the diary which was absolutely brilliant it was about politics. That really introduced me to the idea of writing about characters every day. Do you think the pace of events means that we don't really take in their seriousness? Yes absolutely this is why I wish journalists wouldn't waste quite so much time on predicting things.
