The History of the Roman Government

There were three major assemblies that were associated with the Senate. Consilium Pleibis was designed into the system in order to prevent aristocratic oppression. The most important aspect of the Roman government however were the consuls. Romans feared the idea of having just one person in charge because they didn't want to have a king.
