The child of a poor family that has no resources doesn't have the same opportunity as a child of a wealthy family to realize their full human potential. How can we tell whether or not a difference in outcomes is a reflection of unequal opportunity or it's a reflection of differences in culture and interest and practice? And I don't know that there's a single answer to that question, but I think one wants to look at the data.
