The Reserve Bank's View on Employment
The Reserve Bank minutes were released this week. Deputy governor Michelle Bullock gave a speech about achieving full employment. She's been accused of saying she wants to put 140,000 people out of work. But that is not what she said and the bank would be much more comfortable with 4.5% unemployment than 3.6%. So I think I'm going to be sick of this open season on the Reserve Bank. Our rates are still lower than most of the rest of the world. We're still in labor shortages.
