When I was teaching jazz at a high school in the Bay Area for seven or eight years, there were no female instrumentalists on the wall. And so then that just kind of reinforced for me that note worthiness is something that's decided upon basically by historians. There are some amazing women doing work trying to get information out about female composers and female musicians who did exist.
