Do You Need Low Carbohydrate Supplementation for Lower Intensity Workouts?

Lower intensity drives are ideal candidates to experiment with doing fasted or with fasted training with no or minimal carbohydrate supplementation during. If you're doing a three-hour ride you should probably not jump right in at the deep end and do that with no carbohydrate supplementation even if you do that with one gel per hour so 20 grams of carbohydrate per hour that's still a very low carbohydrate ride for the amount of energy you're expanding. As you adapt and get fitter you'll find that you might reduce how much you're taking on but as you're starting out you can take on a fair bit if you're starting the ride fasted.
