Coral is taken from the wild and cut into small, replicate pieces. They are then grown out in a land or field nursery. This elicits a compensatory growth response that causes coral tissue to grow up to 50 times faster. So we can create a very large number of corals in a very short amount of time and plant them back on the reef rapidly.
