The Hyborian age that Conan takes place in is a world of cults. People still don't read between the lines to recognize that Conan is taking place in a world ofcults. The gods of Hyboria, Mithra, Set, Durkato all that stuff makes it into the Conan games they make it into the movies and I think Howard knew exactly what he was doing when he was writing that. He's obsessed with this theme right he he's constantly observing the way that over civilizationStifles virtue stifles vitalitystifles these these things that are thrilling about life.
