The Monarch Butterfly by Mark Katesby

mark katesby's second transatlantic voyage to north america. He focused on the atlantic coastal low country of south carolina and florida, as well as the bahamas. After catesby once again returned to england, he started compiling his field notes, specimens and illustrations into a two volume work titled natural history of carolina, florida and the hama islands. By this point, people were already calling the butterfly a monarch. But it wasn't until 17 58, when carl linnaeus included it in his tenth edition of systema nature.
