I wanted to kind of challenge that narrative instead of just being like oh there's a narrative and that sells books I'm just gonna jump into it let's see what I can do this book also has a lot of really great observations about translation as well. There's this great kind of scene where Mona is thinking about how she loves being around other translated authors from different languages which she compares to swimming in her own lane in an Olympic sized swimming pool.
