Is It OK to Criticise How Girls Talk?
i heard at talk by a transwoman who said that the people that she was around reacted totally differently to her when she used phrases or tone of voice as a woman. And so i think this is a really important point about what are the ways in which we are enforcing these linguistic gender stereotypes, and why are we doing it? We don't want to take away the things that that make interactions respectful and polite and connecting. Cause that's a cultural construction, right? That feels like, we would never want to blame the victim, you know? I don't now, you know. But we want to be careful of that. It isn't something that i'm really familiar with.
