The Jehovah's Witnesses and the First Amendment

In 1940 a challenge to a requirement to recite the Pledge of Allegiance was brought under freedom of religion principles. The first of three cases involving Jehovah's Witnesses in the early 40s that would open up what would eventually become the American moral foundations for freedom of speech. And the Jehovah's Witnesses lost on an 8 to 1 vote by the Supreme Court.
