The Basics of Iron Absorption

The frontline therapy for this individual is oral iron. There's no question about it. And now that we have the new data that when you swallow an oral iron pill, it raises your hip side and blocking absorption for the next 48 to 72 hours. So ideally, I guess one iron tablet every other day or twice a week or once a month or something. Cook with the iron. The studies aren't done. Stan thinks they should be done. I think it just screams to say, right? Why? Yeah. We'll get there later. For hard-to-get people like Nemia in Nemia who become sick with Iron deficiency,  I would give her intravenous iron
