As a conservative, i am more in the latter camp. I think that over time, the people will get what they want. In britain, where i am originally from, it doesn't. Parliament can do whatever it wants, and often does. Ultimately, if the american public wanted to repeal the first amendment, grotesqueas tis it could, you would see the repeal of that provision.
