The FBI gained access to data in other countries that they were not allowed to view. This means the FBI almost certainly draw through countless terabytes of data, which belong to users way out of their jurisdiction. It also meant that in theory, the FBI could shut down the whole operation. Did they? No. But for the sake of your fucking security, it does.
