Tilda was desperate with both the need for advice and a balm for her aching heart. She resolved to find a way to contact her parents. Only government officials had working cell phones, and most land lines were out of service. While exploring an abandoned house near the centi centre of huttsville she found a functioning land line. Shaking, hand slipping, she ducked as a beam of light spilled out of the window she had just shut. The shot of a drinlin that surged through her veins almost jolted her upright but the baby slumbering in her arms kept her still ly. Tilda escaped and never tried to call home again.
