Shuggie: A Novel About Queer Love
The novel asked me a question as a writer, and I couldn't answer it in Shuggie. It stems around the scene where Agnes makes a terrible bargain with the man that lives across the road to try and take Shuggie away from her. And so we leave Shuggie at that, just stuck in my mind, that chapter. But that is the thing about novels. They live on their own when you let them go. "I wanted to celebrate like queer love for young working class men"
