Introduction

The Black Sea Grain Initiative was put in place last July, July of 2022. It allowed for the safe export of Ukraine's grain in the context of active warfare. A total of over 32.8 million metric tons of grain were shipped from Ukraine to 45 countries on three continents around the world. The UN World Food Program purchased about 80% of its wheat from Ukraine last year.
