The Gunpowder Plot

Bonfire Knight takes place every year on the 5th of November. It commemorates an attempt to blow up, destroy the Houses of Parliament in London. In 1605 this was known as the Gunpowder Plot and involved 36 barrels of gunpowder. The plotters were Catholic and they wanted England to be Catholic again. They sent a letter to a friend who worked in Parliament warning them to stay away.
