The Will, for Schopenhauer, Is Every and Always the Same

Schopenhauer says the best word to choose is derived from man's will. This is our term for the only direct experience we have with the thing in itself, which is our own inner experience. The name is chosen because it lies nearest to us and leads to the indirect knowledge of all others. So schopenhauer suggests that coming up with a new word would only be appropriate for something truly and purely in the abstract.
