The Fable of the Bees by Bernard Mandeville
Bernard Mandeville was a Dutchman who lived in London. He defended the existence of brothels and said we should accept that these things exist in society. His fable of the bees is a very thinly veiled satire on his own society. Every kind of bee is basically vicious, repacious, lazy, lying they are companions of all vices that you could find.
