The Relationship Between Humility and Exaltation
Lectio: In Holy Week, talk about humility and exaltation. St. Thomas says Christ's humiliation at the end of his life corresponds to a fourfold exaltation which transpires after or with his rising from the dead. The last two chapters that I wrote touched on this theme of both humility and excalation - actually the correspondence between the two. So it's a profoundly Trinitarian movement; in us sending Christ leads us up with him so that we can recover our Godward gaze.
